Two of our favourite things are ants and worms.
These small creatures have important jobs to do. They have purposeful work to carry out in and for the environment.
They remind me of how children play. Children's play is their work. If we give them long periods of uninterrupted time their play becomes deep and purposeful. They are happy, develop a sense of belonging, team work and social skills, strength and resilience.
These are just some of the benefits of playing outdoors.

You are right. Worms and ants are a never ending centre of interest and learning for children. It happens over and over again each summer. Thanks for recognizing those pieces of nature that so inspire children and draw out that natural curiosity that they all have.
